Washington: US President Donald Trump presented the prestigious Legion of Merit to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his leadership that elevated strategic partnership of the two nations and emergence of India as a global power.
According to news agency PTI, India’s Ambassador to the United States, Taranjit Singh Sandhu, received the award on behalf of PM Modi from the US National Security Advisor Robert O’Brien at the White House on Monday.
“President Trump presented the Legion of Merit to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his leadership in elevating the US-India strategic partnership,” Mr O’Brien said via a tweet.
The Prime Minister was presented with the highest degree Chief Commander of the Legion of Merit which is presented only to the Head of State or Government.
