Bhubaneswar: Donning a ‘Sambalpuri Bandha’ Uttariya while addressing the Indian diaspora in Moscow, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said Odisha had brought about a great revolution as he referred to his electoral success.
“After 60 years, a government being elected for the third time in India is a very big thing in itself…Elections were also held in 4 states, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha and NDA won in these four states with a clean sweep majority. Odisha has brought about a great revolution which is why I have come among you today with an Odia scarf…,” said Modi.
In the last state assembly polls in Odisha, BJP ended the rule of Naveen Patnaik-led BJD by winning 78 of 147 Assembly seats. It also swept the Lok Sabha polls by winning 20 of 21 seats.
The Prime Minister also chanted Jai Jagannath to greet the Indian diaspora on the auspicious occasion of Rath Yatra. This was yet another instance of Modi showcasing Odisha to the world.
He had earlier flaunted a similar uttariya while offering tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Sadaiv Atal ahead of his swearing-in as the Prime Minister for the third consecutive term. He also showcased Konark Wheel of Sun Temple at the G20 meeting last year. A replica of the wheel was the backdrop to Modi greeting the G20 leaders.
