New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always been at the forefront to make
The fight against climate change has been one of Narendra Modi’s favourite campaigns.
The Prime Minister hardly misses a chance to stress on the importance of the menace that is climate change and the need to make it a people’s movement.
On Wednesday, Modi walked into Parliament wearing a blue jacket that had a green message written all over it.
It was a special jacket because it was made from recycled PET bottles.
“Watch for PM Shri @narendramodi ji’s blue jacket today in the Parliament. The jacket has been made with recycled PET bottles. Modi ji doesn’t just walk the talk, he also leads from the front. A superb way to promote climate consciousness,” tweeted Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Coal and Mines Pralhad Joshi.
The jacket was presented to the PM by Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) at the recent India Energy Week in Bengaluru.
Over 10 crore PET bottles are being recycled to make sustainable garments for IOC employees and Armed forces.
The Union government recently launched the National Green Hydrogen Mission with an outlay of Rs 19,700 crore to facilitate transition of the economy to low carbon intensity, reduce dependence on fossil fuel imports and ensure India adopts technology and market leadership in this sector.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman provided Rs 35,000 crore in Her Budget for energy transition and net zero objectives.
