New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s YouTube channel crossed 20 million subscribers on Tuesday, making him the sole world leader with such a substantial following.
Officials noted that the videos posted on Modi’s channel have more than 4.5 billion views, far ahead of his global peers.
The second-ranking leader in YouTube subscribers is former Brazilian President Jair Bolsanora, with a count of 6.4 million.
Following closely is the Ukraine President, securing the third spot with 1.1 million subscribers. United States President Joe Biden holds the fourth position with 794,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel.
Other world leaders with notable YouTube subscriber counts include Turkey’s Recep Tayyip Erdogan (419,000 subscribers), France’s Emmanuel Macron (316,000 subscribers), Argentina’s Alberto Fernández (81,200 subscribers), and Canada’s Justin Trudeau (69,600 subscribers).
Overall, Indian record label T-Series is the most-subscribed channel on YouTube, with over 256 million subscribers as of December 2023.
According to Statista, India has the largest YouTube audience by far, with approximately 462 million users engaging with the popular social video platform, as of October 2023. The United States follows suit with around 239 million YouTube viewers, securing the second position. Brazil claims the third spot with 144 million users avidly consuming content on YouTube.
