Bhubaneswar: Eminent litterateur, Satrughana Pandav received the prestigious ‘Sarala Puraskar’ for his poetry collection ‘Misra Dhrupada’ and his overall literary achievement for the year 2018 at a function held here on Friday.
This is the 39th edition of the award, instituted by IMFA’s (Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys) charitable wing Indian Metals Public Charitable Trust (IMPaCT).
Renowned writer Pandav was felicitated with a cash award of Rs 5 lakh along with a citation.
Besides, noted tabla player, Umesh Chandra Kar was felicitated with the ‘Ila Panda Memorial Music Samman’ and Binod Maharana received the ‘Ila Panda Memorial Art Samman’ for their contribution to the fields of music and art. They received a cash award of Rs 1.5 lakh each along with citations.
Instituted in 1979 by IMPaCT, a charitable wing of leading ferro alloys producer IMFA Group, Sarala Award is recognised as one of the foremost literary awards in Odisha.
