Poland Universities Will Be Ready To Welcome Indian Students: Union Minister

New Delhi: Union minister General (Retd) VK Singh assured Indian students studying in Ukraine that they need not worry about completing their courses as universities in Poland will be opening their doors to them.

A few thousand Indian students have been evacuated from Ukraine, while many more are awaiting a safe passage back home in view of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

A 21-year-old student was killed in Russian shelling in Kharkiv on Tuesday, and those who are still in Ukraine are worried about their safety. The Indian government has been interacting with Ukraine’s neighbours to help evacuate its nationals.

Gen Singh, one of the ministers sent to those countries to facilitate the process of bringing back Indian nationals, visited Budomierz on the Poland-Ukraine border, where he met Indian students desperate to return to their homeland, reported IANS.

Once back home, the students’ next worry will be about their future – whether they can go back to Ukraine and complete their education.

“Whoever I have been speaking to in Poland, have been saying Indian students will be welcome to their universities… so you need not worry at all,” Gen. Singh said in a video he shared on Twitter.
