Berhampur: Four brokers were arrested from the Regional Transport Office (RTO) at Chatrapur in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Wednesday for harassing people and swindling money.
According to sources, several documents, including driving licenses and vehicle registration certificates were seized by the police from the arrested middlemen.
The police action came after Ganjam Superintendent of Police Jagmohan Meena received complaints that many brokers are operating in the RTO and common people are being harassed by these elements.
On the basis of complaints, a special team of Chatrapur Model Police Station was formed by the SP. The team carried out a raid at the RTO and caught the four brokers. As many as 12 driving licenses, seven vehicle registration certificated, four mobile phones, four motorcycles and several other documents relating to financial transactions were seized from them.
A case has been registered against the accused persons and further investigation is in progress, the sources added.
