Bhubaneswar: Police busted the gang of robbers, which had looted a house at Prakruti Vihar in Bhubaneswar on October 15, by arresting its four members on Thursday.
According to Khandagiri police, the arrested persons are Pradeep alias Manas Chinera of Bidanasi in Cuttack, Suman alias Baishnav Ojha of Balikuda in Jagatsinghpur, Tutu alias Padmalochan Mallik of Bharatpur in Bhubaneswar and Adhir Ojha of Erasama in Jagatsinghpur.
The police have also seized Rs 26 lakh in cash from the possession of the arrested persons and forwarded them to court.
The police said the arrested persons revealed to them during questioning that they used to work as masons during day time when they would identify the house to loot. Finding an opportune time at night, they would commit the crime.
In the latest case, they had targeted the house of Hadibandhu Behera in Prakruti Vihar. They were engaged in colouring of a house in the area.
On the night of October 15, the robbers found the house of Hadibandhu locked from outside. Taking advantage of it, they had looted the house. After Hadibandhu filed a complaint, the police had registered a case and started investigation.
