Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police has busted a bicycle lifting gang and arrested its 5 members in Bhubaneswar.
According to a press release of the Police Commissionerate on Saturday, Bibhuti Parida of Paikanagar under Nayapalli police station had filed a complaint stating that he had parked his bicycle near a vegetable shop at ID Market in the city and went for purchasing vegetables on Friday.
After one hour, when he returned from the market, he found his bicycle missing from the place. Bibhuti filed a complaint at Nayapalli police station in this regard.
Following investigation, the police identified the gang of cycle lifters and apprehended them. The police also recovered 8 stolen bicycles from possession of the miscreants. During questioning, the gang members admitted to have stolen Bibhuti’s cycle.
On further verification, police ascertained that the gang was involved in cycle lifting from different busy places in Nayapalli besides the ID Market.
