Balangir: Police have busted an online betting racket and arrested five persons in this connection in Odisha’s Balangir district.
According to sources, police received reliable information that a group of people, including some from outside the state, was running the online betting from a house in Kantabanji town of the district.
The police conducted a raid on the rented house near Lions Public School in Kantabanji on Sunday. During the raid, they arrested five persons, including three from Bihar, while carrying on online betting.
Police also seized 18 mobile phones, 3 laptops and other items from the possession of the arrested persons. The police registered a case and questioned the five accused to know involvement of others in the racket. More raids on the basis of their statements were likely, the sources said.
