Police Arrest 9 Persons In Rourkela Murder Case

Rourkela: Police have arrested nine persons in connection with the murder of Dilshad Khan in Railway Colony of Rourkela on June 7 and were conducting raids to trace three others wanted in the case.

Rourkela SP Siba Subramani told the mediapersons that the arrested included the main accused, Jitendra Shah and his brother Surja Shah. Police have also seized the weapons used in the murder, he added.

Shah and his gang were on the lookout for a chance to take revenge on Dilshad as he had beaten up a murderer, an apparent member of the gang, in 2018. Though Shah had made several attempts earlier, his gang succeeded to eliminate Dilshad on June 7 night, said the SP.

It may be noted that hundreds of people belonging to the minority community had taken out a massive funeral procession with the body of Dilshad on the day after his murder on Nala Road, defying the lockdown norms. Police have registered case against 500 persons for participating in the procession.
