Police Arrest Gang Of Dacoits In Ganjam’s Hinjili

Berhampur: Hinjili police foiled an attempt of a gang of dacoits to loot petrol pumps and arrested 8 members of the gang with fire arms, live bombs and swords on Thursday night.

The dacoits were arrested when they had assembled to plan the loot at a rest shed near a canal of Gopinathpur village adjoining Hinjili-Berhampur road, said Investigating Officer PK Dash. Another two dacoits fled.

A 7.65 mm pistol with live ammunition, two live bombs, two big swords, a chilli powder packet, 10 black coloured full mask and two bikes were seized from their possession, police said.

The arrested dacoits are Sania Mahanty and Kalu Charan Patra of Aska; Nari Pandi, Mithun Sahani, Siba Jalli and Kanha Sahani of Khallikote; Bhagaban Naik of Gangapur and Jagnya Pradhan of Polsara.

P{olice have registered a case under Sections 399/ 402 IPC and 25 (1-B) (a) Arms Act and 4/5 ES Act.
