Bhubaneswar: Police have arrested three members of a looter gang and recovered stolen jewellery and cash worth lakhs of rupees from their possession.
According to sources, Badagada police arrested the three persons after investigation into a complaint filed by Suranjan Kumar Das about the loot from his house on November 20 when his and his family had gone out locking up their house.
The mastermind of the gang, identified as Purna Chandra Behera of Laxmisagar in the city, is a habitual offender having 7 stealing cases pending against him in Lingaraj, Mancheswar, Sahidnagar, Badagada and Capital police stations.
He used to visit the houses posing himself as a hair businessman. Whenever he would find, any house locked, he and his two accomplices, Siba Behera and Ramesh Behera, would loot the valuables by breaking open the lock.
The arrested persons have been forwarded to court, the sources said.
