Sambalpur: The sleepy town of Rairakhol in Odisha’s Sambalpur witnessed a rare scene of a hot car chase of police to nab ganja smugglers driving an SUV on Monday.
As per reports, Rairakhol police in the district received reliable information about smuggling of ganja in an SUV and accordingly remained on guard at a strategic junction in the town. As the SUV entered the town, the police team in their van followed it.
On finding the police on their toes, the smugglers picked up speed to dodge them. But police continued the chase as the smugglers went through lanes and sub-lanes in a high speed.
With the police catching up with them, the smugglers entered a market complex and ran away after leaving the vehicle with the ganja.
Undeterred, the police continued the search and nabbed one of them hiding near College Square and another near Maheswari Hospital.
The smugglers were identified as Altaf Raz from Rourkela and Arman Khan from Jharkhand. The police seized 57 kg of ganja from their vehicle.
