Balasore: Police on Sunday arrested three women for allegedly thrashing an Anganwadi worker after tying her to a tree in Odisha’s Balasore district. Six women connected with the incident have been absconding but will be arrested soon, the police said.
The victim Anganwadi worker of Mahapada village under Singla police limits, Urmila Samal was beaten by group of woman on September 19.
After knowing about the incident, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida intervened and directed police and district administration to act immediately.
Urmila is undergoing treatment at Balasore district headquarters hospital. It remains unclear why she was attacked by the villagers.
