Cuttack: Purighat Police on Monday arrived at the house of actor and Kendrapada MP Anubhav Mohanty.
According to reports, a police team arrived at the house of Mohanty at Nandi Sahi responding to the distress call made over the emergency 100 number by his wife Varsha Priyadarshini.
The Ollywood actress has filed a case of domestic violence against Anubhav in the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate’s (SDJM) court, which will hear the petition on October 12.
Earlier in the day, Cuttack District Protection Officer recorded the statement of Barsha at her in-law’s house in Nandi Sahi.
Meanwhile, speaking the media for the first time after his wife filed a petition in the SDJM court here on Saturday, Mohanty said he respected Varsha.
Asked about the marital discord, he said they have sought the intervention of the court having failed to resolve the issue.
“I had specified in my press release on Sunday that I respect Varsha as a woman. I also respect our relation. Whatever has happened, it is between us. It is a family matter and I don’t wish to discuss it in public,” he said.
Anubav further said that he had faith in the judiciary. “I hope that the issue will be resolved soon,” he added.
On the allegation of domestic violence, he said that Varsha still stays with his family (at Cuttack). “If someone raises the issue of domestic violence while continuing to stay in my home, I leave it to the court to decide,” he added.
