Police ASI Caught Taking Rs 8K Bribe In Odisha’s Angul



Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Saturday apprehended an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Police for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 8,000 from a man to help him in a case.

The ASI, identified as Sita Nayak, is posted at Jarapada Police Station in


Angul district. She was caught while demanding and taking Rs 8,000 from a complainant to help him in a case registered recently.

The accused ASI had demanded Rs10,000 from the complainant to settle the matter through a compromise report by the complainant and his opponent. When the complainant expressed his inability to pay the demanded bribe Rs 10,000/-, the ASI reduced the bribe amount to Rs 8,000/-.

Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant alerted the vigilance authorities. Based on this, a team of Odisha Vigilance laid a trap and nabbed Nayak while taking Rs 8,000 from the complainant inside the police station. .

The entire bribe money of has been recovered and seized from the possession of Nayak.

Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations linked to Nayak from Disproportionate Assets angle. A case has been registered and investigation is underway.
