Berhampur: Police on Wednesday booked a couple for allegedly tying their son to a tree and cane him near their house in a village in Kandhamal district’s G Udaygiri police limits on Tuesday.
The boy was punished for allegedly stealing Rs 250 from home.
“A case was registered against the couple following a complaint lodged by Childline activists of the district on Wednesday,” G Udaygiri Police Station’s inspector-in-charge, Naresh Chandra Sahu was quoted as saying by The Times of India.
“The child was produced before the district child welfare committee,” director of Childline, Kandhamal said.
