Police Bust Bike & Mobile Phone Lifting Gang In Odisha’s Berhampur City

Berhampur: Police have busted a gang allegedly involved in lifting bikes and mobile phones and arrested 6 persons in Berhampur city of Odisha’s Ganjam district.

Speaking to media on Friday, Berhampur SP Saravana Vivek M said police swung into action after Narayan Das of Nigamnagar, 4th lane, Ankuli in Berhampur complained about theft of his bike on August 3. Police busted the gang after apprehending Chandan Biswasara of Talaregidi village under Hinjili police station.

After Chandan admitted to have stolen Narayan’s bike and revealed about the gang, the BNPur police in Berhampur police district arrested the gang members. The arrested persons are L Siva Reddy (26) of Gokarnapur, Upendra Nayak (26) of Aliabad, Srikant Padhi (30) of Kankarada and two minor boys aged 17 years.

The police also seized 13 bikes of different models and 57 mobile phones from them. The gang confessed to committing theft of bikes and mobile phones from MKCG Medical College and Hospital campus.

The arrested persons were forwarded to the court on Friday and the police are making further investigation.

The SP appealed to the public who lost their mobile phones and bikes in MKCG Hospital to approach BNPur police station with authentic document as proof to receive their stolen materials.
