Khurda: Police busted a camp of drug peddlers and recovered pistols and other weapons from a forest in Odisha’s Khurda district on Sunday.
As per reports, following reliable information that a group of people was running a drug racket from the forest, a team from Khurda Industrial Estate police outpost conducted a raid.
During the raid, the police came across a tent pitched in the forest. They also recovered several pistols and sharp weapons from the camp. But nobody was present in the camp during the raid.
Before the police raid, the locals had gone in a group to nab the drug peddlers in the forest. But the accused managed to escape when they arrived.
The police suspected that the miscreants were involved in brown sugar trade from the forest for more than a week. The police have launched an investigation to trace the absconding drug peddlers.
