Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has taken strict measures to ensure peaceful celebration and use of harmless colours during Holi in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack on Saturday.
The Commissionerate Police has formed special teams to carry out raids on the shops selling ‘Phagu’ (coloured powder), water colour, caps and other materials for Holi on Friday. The teams would check the items to ensure that no hazardous ingredients or chemicals, which would harm the users, are used in those.
Those found selling hazardous items will be prosecuted as per the law. The drive will also continue tomorrow, police sources said.
Besides, the Commissionerate has tightened security measures and would deploy forces at different locations in the Twin Cities to maintain law and order during the celebration.
It has warned the anti-socials of stern action, if they resort to any kind of mischief. Forceful use of colours, eve-teasing, driving under influence of liquor and other nuisances will attract penalty as per the provision of law.
