Bhubaneswar: A case has been registered by the police against jatra artiste Bhagyashree Sahoo for allegedly performing obscene dance at a programme in Odisha’s Malkangiri district.
Sources said the case has been registered against the artiste, popularly known as ‘Sahoo Bhauja’,under Section 296 of the BNS for alleged presentation of obscene acts and songs during a show in Kotameta area of Malkangiri district.
The police have also registered against the organisers of the jatra show held recently.
At the same time, a departmental inquiry has also been initiated against Inspector In-Charge (IIC) of Mathili Police Station Debabrata Mallik who was reportedly present at the event. Sources said he allegedly failed to take any step to stop or oppose the objectionable act by Sahoo.
The Superintendent of Police (SP) of Malkangiri has reportedly directed the SDPO to conduct the departmental probe.
