Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has collected penalty of more than Rs 8 lakh under its Safe City drive in Bhubaneswar so far this month.
In order to make the city crime-free and ensure security to its people, the Commissionerate Police launched motorcycle patrolling under the Safe City drive from beginning of this month. The personnel of POPD, Team-60 and CTS participated in the patrolling.
They along with the personnel of different police stations conducted the patrolling in respective areas to trace anti-social elements and the people engaged in drinking alcohol in public places. They also imposed penalty on those flouting the regulations.
During the drive so far this month, the patrolling team has collected fine of Rs 8,05,500 under the OUP Act. Similarly, penalty of Rs 41,980 has been collected from 308 persons under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) and Rs 37,000 from 79 violators of Motor Vehicles Act.
