Bhubaneswar: Police Commissioner Satyajit Mohanty visited different puja pandals of the Odisha capital on Wednesday to review the security arrangements.
Starting from traffic arrangements to the steps taken by the police to control crowds, the Commissioner supervised all the arrangements personally.
He said, “The devotees have been coming to the pandals with a lot of devotion. They have a keen interest to get a glimpse of Ma Durga. They are also enjoying the cultural programmes here. I just want to give a message to the devotees that they should take care of their safety.”
“The police have been ready to help them to cross the National Highway also. So, they should take this privilege,” he added.
Mohanty also said, “We will strengthen our traffic arrangement in view of the Navami and Dashami rush. People should follow our traffic rules and regulations for their own good.”
People should visit the pandals on two wheelers and avoid using cars to keep a check on traffic jams.
The Commissionerate Police on Monday issued guidelines imposing certain restrictions on the movement of heavy vehicles from 4 pm to 2 am everyday till October 20. This is aimed at the smooth flow of traffic on the city roads.
