Police Complaint Lodged Against Parents For Branding Infant

Nabarangpur: A police complaint was lodged against a couple for allegedly branding their six-month-old baby boy with a hot bangle at Khutiguda village under Papadahandi block in Nabarangpur district.

The incident took place on Monday when the infant born to Nakul Bhatra and his wife Janaki had been suffering from breathing problems for a week and had stopped drinking milk. Instead of taking the child to hospital, the duo branded a hot bangle on his stomach to heal him.  When the child’s condition deteriorated, the parents took him to community health centre at Dabugaon from where he was referred to the district headquarters hospital for better treatment.

However, the doctors treating the child at the district headquarters hospital said that he is suffering from pneumonia and septicaemia. His condition is stated to be serious.

Meanwhile, an anganwadi worker of the same village lodged a police complaint against the parents of the child for this inhuman practice.
