Koraput: Thirteen people, including a police constable, were arrested in Odisha’s Koraput district in connection with a robbery committed in the house of a prominent businessman and BJD leader.
The constable has been identified as Sonu Jani posted as a constable in the armed police reserve (APR) in Koraput.
Sources said the arrest has been made in connection with robbery committed on May 14 in the house of businessman and BJD leader Sunil Sahu at Dungarveja.
While a huge quantity of gold and silver jewellery was seized from their possession, another person who purchased the stolen goods from the accused was also arrested.
The gang members had entered Sunil Sahu’s house by breaking the lock. Later, they also broke into the house of a teacher who was staying on rent and looted gold and money from him at gunpoint.
Two more members of the gang are stated to be absconding and the police are trying to nab them.
