Sonepur: In a tragic incident, a police constable and his brother were reportedly killed in a shooting incident at Chulimala village under Binika police limits of Odisha’s Sonepur district on Tuesday.
The deceased have been identified as Manoj Jhankar (30) and Seshadeva Jhankar (28). Manoj was serving as a constable in the district police.
As per sources, the incident occurred when both the brothers had been to a nearby field in the evening. Locals said a loud noise was heard when the siblings were on the field.
The villagers found them lying in a pool of blood and rushed both to the Binika Community Health Center (CHC), where the two were declared dead.
Service revolver of the constable was reportedly found near the bodies. The exact cause of the firing is yet to be ascertained.
The police have launched an investigation into the incident and efforts are on to ascertain the cause and circumstances leading to the incident.
