Balangir: A reserve police constable was found dead under mysterious circumstances with his hands and legs tied inside a hotel in Odisha’s Balangir.
Sources said the deceased has been identified as Shankarbhanu Behera, a constable of Sonepur Reserve Police.
Behera had been to Balangir town and checked into the hotel on Friday morning. However, he did not return home.
Subsequently, Behera was found dead inside the washroom of the hotel room.
On being informed by the hotel staff, a team of Balangir Town Police reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident.
They seized Behera’s body and sent for postmortem. Later, a scientific team also joined in the probe.
Preliminary investigation indicated that the constable was probably murdered, sources said.
