Cuttack: A day after a woman employee of State Bank of India (SBI) and her 7-month-old daughter were found dead in their house in the city, the Commissionerate Police on Saturday claimed to have solved the case.
Speaking to mediapersons, Additional DCP Trinath Mishra said the SBI employee, Banasmita Ojha was under mental stress due to the health condition of her younger daughter.
“The child had undergone surgery for brain tumor recently. But it did not lead to any improvement in her condition for which her mother was under mental stress,” said Mishra.
On Friday, Banasmita sent her 6-year-old elder daughter to the neighbour’s house at the SBI Colony in Shelter Chhak under Bidanasi police limits.
Later, she slashed wrist, ankle vein and throat of her ailing daughter with a knife and committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling, Mishra said.
