Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police on Saturday facilitated a ‘green corridor’ from a private hospital in the city to the airport for a critically ill patient to be shifted to Chennai in an air ambulance.
Following a request in this regard, Additional DCP Traffic and his team provided the ‘green corridor’ for transporting the patient from Apollo Hospital to the Biju Patnaik International Airport at 4 pm.
The convoy of vehicles including an ambulance carrying the patient reached the airport where the air ambulance was waiting. The patient was flown to Chennai for organ transplantation.
‘Green corridor’ refers to a special route that is cleared of the traffic for some time to help the harvested organs or patients to travel to a destination in a very short time.
