Bhubaneswar: Police have detained two persons in connection with alleged murder of a youth in Bhubaneswar.
Speaking to media persons on Thursday, Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh said Chandaka police station was informed about the body of a youth lying in Suangagarh forest on Tuesday night. A team from the police station went to the spot and sent the body for post-mortem.
During investigation, the police identified the deceased person as Sushant Tudu of Darapatna under Barang police station. He was doing diploma course at Nalanda Institute of Technology in Gothapatna. He was suspected to have been strangled to death with a towel, said Singh.
Sushant had gone out at around 8 pm on Tuesday with his friends but did not return home. His family enquired from his friends and relatives but did not find him. They filed a missing complaint at Barang police station on Wednesday.
The DCP said Barang police has detained two of his friends who had accompanied him on Tuesday night. The two persons, who belong to Sushant’s village, had consumed liquor at one place and gone to another place the same night.
Singh further said from preliminary investigation it is suspected that Sushant was strangled to death with a towel which was found near his body. However, further investigation is going on and the cause of death would be known after getting the post-mortem report, he added.
