Police Detain Prime Suspect In Jharaphula Death Case In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: In a major breakthrough in the Jharaphula death case, police arrested the prime suspect from the city late Thursday.

According to police sources, a team of Jajpur Police along with the Special Squad of the Commissionerate Police conducted a raid on the residence of the prime suspect Rakesh Swain in Sundarpada and detained him for questioning. Later, police arrested him.

Jharaphula Nayak, a Plus III second year student of the Rama Devi Women’s University here was found dead on a roadside in Mulapala under Kuakhia police limits in Jajpur district on Wednesday. A CCTV footage showed Jharaphula being taken on a scooter sitting between two persons.
Earlier on the day, Jajpur SP Rahul PR informed the media that the two accused were identified, but refused to divulge further details.
The sources said the police will reveal the details of the case to the media on Friday.
