Bhubaneswar: Police have detained two persons in connection with kidnap and murder attempt on a youth in Bhubaneswar on Monday.
According to sources, the police have identified five persons who had kidnapped Santosh Panda of Barimunda under the Commissionerate of Police in a vehicle from near Jaripatna square. The accused took him to a river bank near Gandarpur school and attacked him with iron rod and other arms.
Later, some local people spotted Santosh, who was critically injured and bleeding profusely, lying on the river bank and informed the police. A team from Nandankanan police station went to the spot and sent Santosh to SCB Medical College and Hospital at Cuttack.
The wife of Santosh has filed a complaint at Mancheswar police station alleging that some miscreants had kidnapped her husband and attempted to murder him.
After registering a case, police started investigation. During investigation, they identified five persons who were involved in the kidnap of Santosh. They have detained two of them and were questioning them.
Meanwhile, the sources said the attack was the fall-out of a land dispute between two groups of brokers of Jaripatna area.
