Bhadrak: Police have found more than Rs 25 lakh during a raid on the house of a lady brown sugar peddler in Odisha’s Bhadrak district.
According to sources, there were reports of brown sugar peddling in Mirzapur area of Elkhar Nayanagar under Bhadrak Town police station. Though the police were aware of the drug peddling, they were unable to take any concrete step for lack of evidence and witnesses.
On the day, the police received confirmed information about smuggling of brown sugar from the house of the lady peddler. A police team carried out the raid on her house in presence of Bhadrak tehsildar Sangram Keshari Khuntia.
During the raid, the police seized around 50 gram of brown sugar. Further search led the police to find bundles of currency notes kept hidden in boxes of snacks, rice and dal and under bed and mattresses.
