Bhubaneswar: Police rescued a woman from an alleged kidnap attempt in the capital city in broad daylight and detained three persons including her uncle in this connection on Friday.
According to sources, the woman, who stays in a women’s hostel at Bhoi Sahi under Nayapalli police station, used to be visited by her maternal uncle from time to time.
During such visit on Friday morning, the uncle went to the hostel and called the woman to come out. As she came out of the hostel premises, her uncle, who had gone with two other persons, forcibly took her in a car.
However, suspecting the movement of the car, a PCR van intercepted it. On checking inside the car, the personnel of the PCR van found the woman in a frightened condition and rescued her.
Later, the woman filed a complaint at Nayapalli police station alleging that her uncle was trying to kidnap her. The police have detained the uncle and his two accomplices for questioning.
