Bhubaneswar: Keeping pressure on miscreants to keep Dussehra celebration incident-free, police foiled a robbery plan and arrested 5 persons on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar late Thursday night.
Speaking to the media on Friday evening, Subhanarayan Muduli, ACP (Zone-4), said during patrolling in Balipatana on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, a police team found the five persons moving suspiciously on the banks of Kushabhadra river.
“The police team cordoned the area and nabbed the five persons. A sword, two iron rods and some liquor bottles were seized from their possession,” he said.
During questioning, they admitted to the police that they had planned to loot a country liquor trader of the area. Since the trader closes his shop at 10.30 pm and returns home with the day’s income, the gang was waiting for him on the river bank.
Four of the arrested persons have several cases pending against them at various police stations, the ACP added.
