Bhubaneswar: Giving pace to the investigation into the death of a girl under mysterious circumstances in a hotel room in Bhubaneswar, the police on Wednesday obtained the Call Detail Record (CDR) of her telephone number.
Sources said that the CDR, comprising information about incoming and outgoing calls on the number for the last two months, will help in the investigators to identify the people with whom the girl had spoken before her death.
Police have also questioned the girls’ two male friends – Sanjay and Ani l– in connection with the death.
The postmortem report of the girl, identified as Subhalaxmi Sahu of Bhadrak district, revealed that she had died of asphyxiation, while viscera report is awaited.
Sahu, who was a Plus II student of higher secondary school in the city, had checked into the hotel on Cuttack-Puri Road on August 4 afternoon. Next day, she was found hanging with a dupatta inside the room.
As per the autopsy report, she breathed her last due to asphyxiation around 24-36 hours before the conduct of the post-mortem. While the body bore ligature mark, there were no injury marks on other parts of the body, the report said.
While it is being suspected that she was administered intoxicants, the viscera report is expected to bring the truth to fore.
The following day, the girl’s family alleged that she was murdered and her body was hanged to pass it off as suicide. They had suspected involvement of some employees of the hotel in the incident.
