Bhubaneswar: Inspector In-Charge (IIC) of Dasmantpur Polie Station in Odisha’s Koraput district has been suspended after he was caught by Vigilance while allegedly taking bribe.
Director General of Police (DGP) has placed Chandrabhanu Mohanty, who was apprehended by Vigilance while taking bribe on July 28, sources said.
The suspension will be with effect from July 28 when Mohanty was arrested by the Vigilance officials on charges of bribery.
The IIC was apprehended IIC for allegedly accepting Rs 8,000 bribe from a man to help him in a case. An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), Dipti Hira, was also apprehended by Vigilance along with Mohanty.
According to sources, the duo had demanded an illegal gratification of Rs 13,000 from a complainant to help him in a case registered at the police station. They had taken Rs 5,000 a few days ago and were nabbed while accepting the remaining Rs 8,000.
A case has been registered at Koraput Vigilance police station under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
