Bhubaneswar: A day after a massive fire broke out at an illegal firecracker godown in Infocity area of Bhubaneswar, the Commissionerate Poliec on Tuesday registered a case against the owner of the building and launched a manhunt for him.
The fire incident had taken place at the illegal godown located in Chunukoli slum under Infocity police limits in the state capital on Monday evening.
Police also sealed the warehouse and launched a hunt to nab the owner of the building, identified as Bighnaraj Pattnaik.
While no loss of life was reported in the incident, the impact of the explosion cracked the walls of the godown building before fire engulfed the structure.
It was alleged that the illegal firecracker factory was being run on the first floor of the building.
The locals heard a loud sound coming from the house in the evening. Soon after, the entire second floor was engulfed by fire with intermittent blasting of crackers. Apparently, the crackers exploded while those were being made in the factory.
A team from Infocity police station visited the spot. But by the time the house owner had fled.
The ground floor of the building was rented for ladies’ hostel. Total 21 working women were reportedly staying in the hostel.
