Bhubaneswar: After the successful launch of ‘Shakti Bahini’ to ensure the safety of women and children during Durga Puja, the Commissionerate Police has rolled out another initiative called ‘Operation Tribhuj’ in Bhubaneswar.
This operation aims to manage the massive crowds, regulate traffic, and prevent thefts at major puja pandals across the city.
As its name suggests, the operation has merged three systems – 1,000 CCTV cameras of Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL), two drones and police personnel equipped with VHF sets who are engaged on the ground, to prevent traffic congestions in the state capital.
Commissioner of Police, S Dev Datta Singh, revealed that ‘Operation Tribhuj’ integrates 1,000 CCTV surveillance systems, drone cameras, and a dedicated police force to maintain law and order, particularly at the heavily crowded mandaps.
The aim is to keep a close watch on the proceedings and ensure public safety by preventing crimes such as thefts and snatching, he said.
A team of police personnel is stationed round the clock at the Smart City control room, monitoring the feeds from these advanced technologies and responding to any emergencies swiftly. With a primary focus on crowd control, traffic management, and vigilance on thieves and pickpockets, the operation ensures a secure environment for all devotees.
If ‘Operation Tribhuj’ proves successful during Durga Puja, the Commissionerate Police plans to extend its implementation to other major events and festivals in the future, offering a robust framework for public safety, police said.
