Police, Maoists Exchange Fire In Odisha’s Malkangiri

Malkangiri: A heavy exchange of fire took place between security personnel and Maoists inside a forest in Odisha’s Malkangiri district on Tuesday afternoon.

Malkangiri SP Prahlad Sahai Meena informed that they had information about the presence of some Maoists inside Kerimiti forest under Mathili police limits. “A joint search operation was carried out by Special Operation Group (SOG) and District Voluntary Force (DVF) this morning when Maoists suddenly opened fire at the security personnel and they immediately retaliated,” he said.

Asked about the casualty in the exchange of fire, the SP said that the details are awaited.
