Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday arrested an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of police after he was caught accepting illegal gratification of Rs 1,500.
Prashant Kumar Sahoo of Jaypore village under Dhauli police station in Khurda district had complained to the Vigilance officials that ASI Tofan Guru of Dhauli police station was demanding bribe for compromising a civil dispute and not registering a case against him and his father.
The Vigilance officials laid a trap and nabbed the ASI red-handed in front of Dhauli police station while accepting the bribe from Sahoo. The bribe money was recovered and seized in presence of witnesses.
His government residential quarters at Bhubaneswar is being searched. He has been arrested and will be forwarded to the court. Bhubaneswar Vigilance has registered a case in this connection.
