Berhampur: The Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday apprehended ASI of Kiakata police station in Angul district, Nabin Kumar Satapathy, while allegedly accepting Rs 8,000 bribe.
According to sources, the ASI had demanded illegal gratification of Rs 10,000 from the complainant. He had collected Rs 2,000 a few days ago and was nabbed while receiving the remaining bribe amount.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are on at three locations linked Satapathy to ascertain whether he had accumulated assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. A case has also been registered against him under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 and further investigation is underway, the sources added.
