Rourkela: A police officer died after being run over by a speeding truck near Hanuman Vatika under Raghunathpalli police limits in Sundargarh district on Wednesday.
According to police sources, a truck registered in Madhya Pradesh rammed into the motorcycle he was riding. The deceased was a native of Lathiguda.
The truck driver and helper, who attempted to flee the spot soon after the accident, were nabbed by the police and locals. The vehicle was seized and the duo later taken into custody.
Eyewitnesses blamed the truck diver for negligent driving and over-speeding. They demanded action against him.
