Bhubaneswar: Concerned over the rise in drug smuggling, cyber crime and other organized crimes in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, the commissionerate police is planning to set up a special crime unit.
Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi told the media on Tuesday that the special crime unit will have 25-30 officers and it will be headed an officer in the rank of deputy inspector general (DIG) as the joint commissioner. The unit will exclusively deal with drug smuggling, cyber crime and other organized crimes in the twin cities.
He said the proposal will soon be sent to the state government for approval.
