Bhubaneswar: Police on Monday questioned a male friend of the girl who was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a hotel room in Bhubaneswar on Saturday evening.
According to sources, the male friend, whose identity has not been revealed, was brought to Laxmisagar police station on the day. His statements during the questioning were recorded in the police station. With this, 10 persons have been questioned by police so far.
The girl, identified as Subhalaxmi Sahu of Kuabagh in Bhadrak district, was found hanging in a hotel near Laxmisagar Square on Cuttack-Puri road in the city. A Plus-II second year student of Rama Devi Higher Secondary School, she had checked into the hotel at around 3.30 am on Saturday.
She booked a room and took its key. When she did not come out of the room till evening, the hotel staff got suspicious and knocked on the door. Failing to get any response, they opened the door with the master key. They found Subhalaxmi hanging with her stole from the ceiling fan. Police seized the body in presence of her family members on Sunday.
After identifying the body, Subhalaxmi’s family alleged that someone might have killed her and hanged her body in the hotel room to give it a suicide angle. They had suspected the involvement of some employees of the hotel in the incident.
The police have also questioned the manager of the hotel and examined the footage of CCTV camera installed there.
