Dhanbad: A case has been registered against Union minister of state for education Annapurna Devi for alleged violation of COVID-19 protocols.
Action follows Chief Judicial Magistrate Sanjay Kumar’s order directing Dhanbad Police to lodge a case against Annapurna, who had conducted a Jan Ashirwad Yatra on August 9.
A petition was filed by Md Kalam Azad, stating that the yatra violated COVID-19 norms in Jharkhand.
Kalam claimed that Annapurna and her supporters brought together a crowd in Dhanbad in the name of Jan Ashirwad Yatra, thus putting people’s lives in danger.
Kalam further said in the petition that the district administration didn’t take appropriate action and failed to control the crowd.
Dhanbad Police is now probing who all had attended the Jan Ashirwad Yatra, besides Annapurna.
