Puri: Police have rescued a baby girl, who was allegedly sold by her father, and arrested three persons in this connection in Odisha’s Puri.
As per reports, the 11-month-old baby girl is the daughter of M Narasingha and his wife Pooja who stay in Dhobakhal slum in Penthakata under Sea Beach police station of Puri town.
In the morning of October 17, Narasingha took his infant daughter to Penthakta market but returned home alone in the evening. When asked by his wife about their daughter, he told her that he had sold the baby to a person from Bhubaneswar for Rs 80,000.
After searching for her daughter in Penthakta, Pooja failed to find her and lodged a complaint at Sea Beach police station. The police registered a case and started investigation. At the time, Narasingha was absconding.
Following investigation, the police came to know that Narasingha had sold the baby girl to a man in Visakhapatnam of Andhra Pradesh. A police team went to Visakhapatnam and rescued the baby.
They have also arrested Narasingha, the middleman who brokered the sale of the baby and the buyer and forwarded them to the court.
