Police Rescue Kidnapped Minor Boy, Detain 3 Persons In Bhubaneswar; Child Lifting Racket Suspected

Bhubaneswar: Police have busted a suspected child lifting racket in the capital city and rescued a minor boy from three persons including two women on Wednesday.

According to police sources, the three persons, identified as Gobardhan Sahu, Gitanjali Das and Sarojini Mohapatra of Nayagarh, were involved in kidnap of the boy. Gitanjali, who stays near the house of 11-year-old boy in Jagamara under Khandagiri police station, had kept an eye on his movement for the last few days.

On Tuesday evening, she followed the boy and lured him by telling that she would give him chicken pakoda and took him to a fast food stall. She also informed her two accomplices and three of them offered ice-cream to the boy. Later, they took him in a car to a house in Patrapada where they spent the night.

The three kidnappers had planned to take the boy in a bus to Odagaon in Nayagarh on Wednesday morning. But police came to know about them and rescued the boy.

From the footage of CCTV cameras in Jagamara, the police have found the three persons moving suspiciously. The police, who have detained them and were questioning them, they suspected that the trio might be involved in child lifting racket.
