Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, a man has been arrested for allegedly kidnapping a minor girl to sell her in the Capital City.
According to police sources, the five-year-old girl belonging to Sikharchandi slum under Infocity police station had gone missing 5 days back. After failing to trace her despite desperate search at every possible places, the girl’s family had filed a complaint with the police.
The police registered a missing case and launched a search operation for the minor girl. During the investigation, police came to know from reliable sources that a man was spotted moving with the missing girl in Chandrasekharpur area of the city on Thursday.
The police laid a trap and nabbed the man from Chandrasekharpur. They also rescued the girl from his clutches.
Later, the accused confessed to the police that he had kidnapped the girl to sell her. The police have launched investigation to ascertain whether it is part of child trafficking racket or not and others involved in the crime.
